But let's get down to brass tacks here. What is the Taco Diet Cleanse?
The simplest explanation of the Taco Diet Cleanse is, *drum roll please*, it's a vegan diet. A vegan diet, which cuts out all meats and animal food products, is often thought to be healthy. I don't want to ruffle any feathers out there (of the folks who don't eat anything feathered), BUT the vegan diet does not automatically equal healthy. Not only do vegans need to supplement with certain vitamins/minerals (B12 and iron to name a couple), but the diet itself is often HIGHER in calories and fat.
Truth is, there are many foods, like donuts, pastries and oh yeah- Maple Bacon Potato Chips (which are probably delish) that are technically vegan-friendly.
By cutting out animal products, it can be hard to get enough protein. Or at least enough protein without drastically increasing the total amount of food (calories). For example, you could eat 3oz of ground beef or ground chicken for about ~160 calories and a whopping 20 grams of protein. OR you could eat 6 tablespoons of peanut butter for ~550 calories and 25 grams of protein. I rest my case.
For the record, I love beef and I love peanut butter- in reasonable amounts.
